Chocolate Danish And Peach Danish :D

Kawaii desu ne!  It's cute isn't it!

Desserts galore!  A Japanese bakery shop, Pastry Culture has settled in town! Full of sugar, spice and everything nice; this petite bakery shop offers some of the freshest baked goods in Damansara Jaya. This Japanese bakery shop is one of the best places to satisfy your sweet tooth, the array of pastries to choose from is simply mind numbing! Be it Japanese Matcha with Red Bean Cake to the peculiar Bacardi Raisin De Cocoa Cake or even a simple Japanese Light Cheese Cake, Pastry Culture is here to please!

It was definitely a challenge to not buy everything, but I managed to pick out a few items to try. I went with the Peach Danish and Chocolate Danish. The moment the crumbs greeted my tongue, I knew that I am definitely coming back to Pastry Culture for a second round!

The Peach Danish, was just drop dead amazing. The pastry is crispy, yet soft at the same time. You can literally taste the richness of the butter, and it was sweetly glazed with sugar. The peach slice that was placed gracefully on top of the pastry was obviously fresh peach. The fresh fruit slice combined with the rich, intense buttery taste as well as the softness and crispiness of the pastry made this simple Peach Danish an outstanding selection.

The Chocolate Danish is coated with rich, fine dark chocolate and topped with mashed bits of cherries, nuts and toffee.  One bite off the Chocolate Danish and your mouth would burst with the intensity of the chocolate. Chocolate lovers would lust after this Chocolate Danish!  The Chocolate Danish is slightly bigger than the Peach Danish.  The texture of the pastry is also different. While the Peach Danish has a crunchy and soft texture, this Chocolate Danish on the other hand is more bread-like. It is not as crunchy as the Peach Danish, but it is very soft and chewy. At only RM3.50 for two pieces of Danish (personal selection), I see no reason why you should not try out the pastries here at Pastry Culture!

Pastry Culture is available at Tropicana City Mall, Damansara Jaya. It is located at the ground floor, it stands out pretty well, I promise that you won’t miss the alluring smell of fresh pastries! So tie your shoelaces up! Nothing beats a good evening tea with crispy, soft, fresh from the oven pieces of fine quality Danish!

The Best Seller!

With the scorching hot weather in our country, everybody needs to indulge in something cold and sweet every now and then. But most of us have the sweet tooth for something beyond the typical ice creams. Have no fear, the Snowflakes is here in town. This dessert house will get even the most gruesome looking uncle jumping with glee with its array of scrumptious desserts.

The review for today will be the talk of the town; Snowflakes. It is originated from Taiwan and it is a well known dessert by the taiwanese. Have you ever tried yam sweet potato for dessert? Well this is the chance to try this mixture that revolves around vegetable and desserts. This bowl of wonders also known as The Best Seller, consists of mainly just yam and sweet potato but with a slight twist. Known as taro balls, these yam and sweet potato balls are amazingly soft and chewy. The freshness of the yam and sweet potato are definitely noticeable. For yam lovers such as myself, this is no doubt a heavenly treat!

The sweet potato and yam are thrown into a bowl of mixed jelly that resembles the lovable grass jelly. It is actually made out of herbs, but fret not! Just because it's herb it doesn't mean it will taste horrendously bitter! It is actually very, very sweet and it goes amazingly well with the taro balls.

This unique combination is then served with shredded ice that the owner made by himself with his own secret recipe. DO not be deceived by the simplicity of the idea, for once your tongue greets the dessert, you will know why it's called the Best Seller/ Snowflake.

Apart from the food, the Snowflake Dessert House have this peculiar technology in customer service. Every customer are given a device which looks like an alien remote object after they have taken the orders. When your food is ready, this particular object will vibrate and beep to let the holder of the device know that their food is ready! What a cool invention, right? Almost as cool as their dessert! As for their price, it is really affordable because you can have such a marvelous dessert for less than RM10.

To look for this fascinating place, do follow the map given. You can get away from the sun and have a winter feast! Although they have a lot of branches, the map above pinpoints their first outlet, which, personally, I feel serves the best tasting desserts amongst all.

So what are you waiting for? Let your taste buds do the judging :)

Strawberry Shortcake :)

Are you a strawberry fan? Wanting something fruity and light? This is the right choice for you!

Today’s dessert review is on strawberry shortcake which you won’t be able to make it yourself unless you have the patience to do so. However, if you want it fast and served beautifully to you, all you have to do is to drop by at the nearest ‘‘The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe’’ for a slice of strawberry shortcake. This slice of strawberry shortcake maybe be selling at a higher price from what you expect but you’ll ask for more once you’ve taste it! It is RM 10.90 per slice excluding tax.

Well since it’s from a cafe that sells great coffee drinks, what else is there to hold against from this wonderful slice of shortcake? This shortcake is top with half cut fresh red juicy strawberries, and vanilla shortcake as the base. Since, it is a shortcake; the cake is lighter than a normal sponge cake and smoother as it melts in your mouth so easily! This shortcake is presented like a layered cake where every layer is filled with slices of strawberries, cream and shortcake. Despite the fact that it may sound calorific, but isn’t desserts are the best friend for everyone, also a stress-reliever? You can count on me for this as it is definitely not a fattening dessert! Dig in and enjoy!

Doesn’t it look like the one you’ve watch on television? Maybe it is not exactly you drooled on, but it somehow has the similarities I’m sure. Well, as mention beforehand that it is shortcake so it is lighter than a sponge cake. Hence, you don’t have to worry about the sweetness of this cake as the sweetness comes from the naturals of the juicy sweet strawberries; imported all the way from Australia. The layered cream from this shortcake is not deadly sweet either. It is fresh whipped cream where it perfectly blends in well as a whole for this strawberry shortcake.

This strawberry shortcake could really go well with a cup of hot cappuccino or maybe a soothing cup of hot tea. Nevertheless, this is all up to your personal preference to choose which flavour coffee or tea you want. Here’s just one tip don’t go for a fruity flavoured tea as you still want the taste of the juicy strawberries to linger in your taste buds!

Crunchy Chocolate Brownie ♥

Hello everyone!

Warning, what you are about to feast your eyes on will provoke a roar of hunger from your stomach! ;)

Today's dessert review is on crunchy chocolate brownies that can be found much closer than you think! This crunchy chocolate brownie is sold at the KDU Square! Priced at only RM3.50, the brownie contains bits of almonds hidden in it's soft and moist centre. It has a crunchy top surface area, and the base would resemble a very fine American Chocolate Moist Cake. Often cut into a generous slab, the brownie is served with some amount of thick and very rich chocolate sauce.

Now, the tasty factor about this brownie is that, unlike many other brownies you can find at higher end restaurants and cafes, this brownie is not sugary sweet. In fact, the only sweetness is the naturally sweet taste of cocoa!
And the sauce?
Pure bliss.

The chocolate sauce is very thick indeed, and one look at it you may think that it is made out of dark chocolate. The taste of the chocolate sauce is slightly different from the brownie itself. The chocolate sauce seems to have higher sugar and chocolate content.

This is a photo of the crunchy chocolate brownie, topped with the thick, rich chocolate sauce.

One of the best parts about buying this crunchy chocolate brownie, apart from it's ridiculously cheap price, is that you get to totally abuse the chocolate sauce! The culinary students who are stationed at the bakery area would gladly pour as much of those sinfully rich chocolate sauce on the brownie to your heart's content!

Apart from enjoying the brownie served on it's own with the sinfully rich chocolate sauce, you can also get a little creative and bring out that inner Nigella Lawson!

Eating the crunchy chocolate brownie with crumbled pieces of plain crackers is sheer bliss! The moment the chocolate sauce seeps into the cookie bits and when you munch it together with crunchy and soft texture of the brownie, I swear you would be momentarily stunned! Wait until you taste the elusive little bits of crushed almonds, ah, heavenly!

This brownie can definitely contend with brownies served at high end cafes and restaurants. Have one bite, and you'll truly know what a brownie should taste like!
